The national law firm chooses to support Cancer Research UK

Cancer Research UK has become the employee nominated charity of choice for national commercial law firm Watson Burton.

The UK’s leading cancer charity has been selected by employees within the firm’s Newcastle, Leeds and London offices as the recipient of donations of all fundraising activities for the coming year. The donations will comprise of funds raised via the firm’s internal charity committee, who are tasked with organising charitable initiatives on behalf of employees.

Katie Smith, Human Resources Advisor and member of Watson Burton’s Charity Committee commented: “The world-class work undertaken by Cancer Research UK helps save millions of lives every year, so we are extremely pleased to pledge our support to the charity and contribute as much as we can to assist them in their noble cause.”

In 2011, the firm raised over £700 for their nominated charity Help for Heroes, and following this success, the firm hopes to exceed their contribution this year.

Katie said: “Our employees made a great effort to raise funds for Help for Heroes last year and we are extremely proud of the results. The fact that the annual charity of choice options are both put forward and voted for by employees of the firm makes this initiative more rewarding. We have already begun fundraising for Cancer Research UK and look forward to maintaining our fundraising activities throughout the year.”
