Tom is part of Watson Burton’s Professions & Insurance team and has recently been described in the Legal 500 as “very clear and thorough”.

Tom works on a variety of professional indemnity cases working closely with various Insurers, Insureds and brokers on a daily basis.

  • Advising on a multi-million pound, multi-party dispute in the TCC concerning allegedly deficient foundations and drainage at a large warehouse.
  • Settling a claim brought against a process server who held insurance for only circa 30% of the claimed sums.
  • Settling a significant claim against an asbestos surveyor arising out the refurbishment of a hotel.
  • Acting on a multi-million pound excess layer policy dispute for a leading insurer.
  • Advising an accountant following a referral to the ICAEW.
  • Assisting an IT provider in relation to a claim being brought by a former client for lost data.
  • Securing a recovery against an architect and structural engineer for a leading insurer. 
  • Providing a leading insurer with policy coverage advice in relation to various potential Third Party (Rights Against Insurers) Act 1930 / 2010 claims. 
  • Pursuing a claim against a firm of solicitors arising from negligent advice as to the operation of overage provisions in a contract for the sale and redevelopment of a bespoke site.

Tom is a keen cyclist and once cycled from Rome to Toulouse in 11 days. He also lived in Finland for a year.
