Duncan Reid

Duncan is the national head of corporate and has a wealth of experience in advising on all types of corporate transactions, including acquisitions, disposals, venture capital investments and management buy-outs. He has particular expertise in the technology, leisure, energy and waste sectors.

In addition to his experience gained as a corporate lawyer within national firms, Duncan has also spent two years working in-house at a leading private equity house.

He is responsible for managing the firm’s relationship with Wear Inns, Northstar Ventures, National Renewable Energy Centre, Bannatynes and Shanks Waste Management.

• Acting for Northstar Ventures, a north based venture capital house on over 40 investments in technology businesses in the last 3 years
• Acting for Prime Technologies and Northstar Ventures on investments in technology companies amBX and Eutechnyx
• Advising software company Atex Group on a $80m refinancing
• Sale of Communicator Corp (a software company) to Trinity Mirror for c£8 million
• Sale of Vigil Software, a value added distributor of security software, to Swiss based Infinigate AG
• Acting for AIM listed Tanfield Group on the £12.5m disposal of Smith Electric Vehicles
• Advising WS Atkins plc on the £15m acquisition of Poyry’s oil and gas consultancy business
• Advising Net60six, an new golf concept, on an investment from IP Group plc
• Advising Wear Inns on a £10m investment from NVM Private Equity and The Business Growth Fund
• Advising Wear Inns on the acquisition of 25 public houses, including a £6.4 m transaction acquiring an estate from TCG

If Duncan did not have a career in the legal profession, he would probably be a gardener at a National Trust property given his enjoyment of designing and developing gardens.
