Katy Ames


Katy is a newly qualified solicitor in the team, having recently completed her training contract at Watson Burton. Katy is based in our Newcastle office.

Katy has assisted on a variety of construction-related professional indemnity cases, working with insurers, insureds and brokers. Katy is currently working alongside other members of the team on a number of construction disputes.

  • Advising in a claim in respect of roofing works at a Grade II listed manor house which has been converted into apartments.
  • Defending numerous claims against Approved Building Inspectors, in relation to alleged non-compliance with the Building Regulations.
  • Assisting in the defence of a large, multi-party claim against an architect arising out of a sinkhole at a residential development.
  • Advising in relation to a contribution claim by a firm of solicitors against a building surveyor in relation to alleged defects at a residential property.
  • Advising an Architects’ practice in a claim in respect of a ceiling collapse at a restoration project where it provided architectural services.
