Henry is a partner in the property department.  He has over 13 years experience in the North East property market with particular expertise in both public and private sector development and the funding of public and private sector developments including PFI and NHS lift schemes. 

Prior to joining Watson Burton Henry acted for both the public sector and the private sector in several healthcare PFI schemes including acting for:

• The Co-operative Bank in providing finance to four NHS lift schemes (Cornwall, Sheffield, Oldham and Hull) with expected total capital expenditure in excess of £500M.

• Selby and North Yorkshire PCT for the re-provision of the Selby War Memorial Hospital.

• The Project companies in the provision of the new St Georges Hospital in Morpeth, the New Rothbury Cottage Hospital, and the Workington War Memorial Hospital.

• The funder of the York Schools PFI, and the Walkergate Hospital.

• GP health centre redevelopment.   

In addition, Henry has extensive experience in the care home sector including acting for Helen McArdle Care in the disposal of their portfolio of homes for £100M and also acting for several Banks in relation to the funding of various care home developments in the northeast and also specialist care centres such as the autism centre in Newburn, Northumberland. In total to date Henry has advised on approximately £250M worth of transactions in the care home sector.

Recently Henry has acted for Banks providing development funding, and several developers including a local North East plc and a national development/PFI/Construction company on projects including:

• a 7 acre site with planning for a 2000 bed student residence scheme and office development.

• A 516 bed student residence scheme in Newcastle.

• The letting of a 142,000 sqft office development in Gateshead.

• A £100m property portfolio re-finance.

• The Purchase of a chain of leasehold bars and nightclubs from the Administrator.
