Mark is a partner in the commercial litigation department and is Head of Commercial Fraud. He represents government bodies, companies and individuals in recovering the proceeds of fraudulent activity across all sectors of industry His work involves understanding and dealing with the vast array of frauds committed and using civil means to achieve recoveries through the swift application of remedies such as freezing and search orders.

He is one of the country’s leading lawyers for tackling NHS fraud and to date has acted on behalf of over 70 primary care trusts, health authorities and local health boards in recovering the proceeds of fraud. Mark regularly presents to the NHS CFSMS Regional Team on tackling the wide range of frauds committed against the NHS and is involved in proactive, deterrent work to minimise the impact of fraudulent behaviour.

He is a founding member of the North East Fraud Forum and is a director of its management board, being involved in addressing the wider issues of combating fraud and its effects at both a regional and national level. Through his work, Mark has excellent connections with government enforcement agencies which are utilised alongside his civil work.

Mark also undertakes a significant portfolio of commercial litigation work, with a particular emphasis on injunctive work in the protection of business assets and information. He also oversees the firm’s Undergraduate Vacation Programme and sits on the firm’s graduate recruitment panel.
