application process

We are now accepting applications for Training Contracts to commence in 2012 and vacation placements for 2010. Details of how to apply can be found below.

We look forward to meeting applicants for training contracts and use the selection process as an opportunity for you to find out whether we are right for you and you are right for us. Assessment centres are usually held during August or September and provide an opportunity for you to display a range of skills, knowledge and experience and meet various Partners and staff within the firm. We pay reasonable travelling expenses to those candidates who are invited to attend assessment centres.

We encourage prospective trainees to gain work experience through our summer Vacation Placement Scheme. This ensures that all applicants have a clear and accurate impression of Watson Burton LLP, and helps you to decide whether we are right for you. We run a number of Vacation Placements, each of one weeks duration, in our Newcastle offices. These usually take place in June and July. Candidates spend time in several of our legal departments, and are given the opportunity to undertake work similar to that which they would encounter as a Trainee Solicitor.

Applications for the Vacation Placement scheme are assessed against the same criteria as those for Training Contracts.

If you wish to apply for a Vacation Placement or a Training Contract, you should complete our application form, indicating clearly whether you wish to be considered for a Training Contract, a Vacation Placement, or both.
