This seminar considers the problems faced by landlords in a difficult market, including rent recovery options and forfeiture plus the effects of tenant insolvency on each of these. We will also consider the implications of empty properties and the additional burdens being placed on landlords in today’s market.
In the current property market landlords need to be aware of the options available to them if a tenant stops paying rent in order that they can mitigate their position and reduce their losses as far as possible. It is also important that tenants are aware of the landlord’s options so that they can anticipate the steps their landlord may take and try to reach a negotiated arrangement before their position becomes irrecoverable.
The purpose of this seminar is to look at the remedies which are available to a landlord when a commercial tenant defaults, and to consider the effect of tenant insolvency on these remedies.
What will we cover:
Practical examples to highlight the issues facing both landlords and tenants
Provide guidance on how to best manage default and tenant insolvency avoiding costs
Provide top tips for navigating a safe course through this complicated area of law.
Who should attend?
This CPD certified seminar will be of interest to commercial landlords and tenants, and surveyors dealing in the landlord and tenant relationship.
